GARY YOUNG

Gary is founding director of Place 54 Architects and chartered member of RIBA with 40 years experience as a masterplanner and architect. Formerly with Farrells from 1980 to 1995, he was design lead for award winning heritage mixed use regeneration projects such as at Comyn Ching Triangle, Covent Garden, now listed 30 years later, and Brindley Place, Birmingham. Gary was masterplan lead for Cambourne in Cambridgeshire, designed in 1995 and now a completed award-winning, landscape-led new settlement of 4000 homes in three linked villages. Gary established his own practice in 1993, winning the Europan Housing competition in Haarlem Netherlands (completed in 2005) and has since collaborated with Farrells to establish urban design principles for new settlements from extensive lessons learned and research into delivery and best practice. With Farrells, he led the large 10,000 home masterplan projects at Greenwich Peninsula and the masterplan for Otterpool Park in Kent, a garden town which has recently been granted outline planning permission.
